Forest fires: A hot and dry summer part 1

Inuvik has had two forest fires this summer, less than 10km from town.

Here are scenes from the smaller of the two. Water bombers were active dropping water and the smoke was visible from the community.

Very nice pictures. I used to live in Inuvik and remember a bad forest fire when I was a kid in 1968. It certainly can be a serious problem when weather conditions are warm and dry with lightning.

  3. Thank you so much for keeping up this blog, and providing all these photos. I visited the Mackenzie area two years ago and loved the region and its people. By visiting your blog, I can stay in touch with what’s happening there. I’d love to visit again.
