A rare bird appears: Tachycineta Bicolor

This bright blue bird was seen singing on a telephone wire.

The Field Guide to the Birds of the Mackenzie Delta says, it’s a rare sight! It appears to be a Tree Swallow, or Tachycineta Bicolor.

Says the Field Guide: “The upperparts of this swallow are iridescent blue-green and its underparts are white. Although uncommon, this cavity nester can be observed in the forested portion of the Delta. Unlike other swallows, it does not nest in colonies.”
