Air intake?

Here’s a sign from the Mackenzie hotel. Why does a building need an air intake?

  1. Most new houses are built with an intake, especially our hermetically sealed triple paned northern houses. I am uncertain about the truth of this, but I was once told by a builder that it was made mandatory due to the possibility of carbon monoxide build up in these tightly sealed homes.

  2. Ah, that would explain it. Especially with a full kitchen at the hotel…you don’t want all the rooms smelling like the soup of the day!
