Inuvikphotos.ca (Daily views from the NWT)

About me:

My name is Philippe Morin, I am 24 and starting my third year in Inuvik, Northwest Territories Canada.

When I moved north from Ottawa, I had little idea of what to expect in Canada’s arctic.

I started posting photos to send back home, and also to sharpen my skills as a photographer. Now, more than 850 posts later, it’s become a very rewarding hobby to share photos with people from around the world.

I’ve recieved emails from Hawaii, Italy, Germany, England, Sweden, Mexico, Pennsylvania, and many other regions, and hope the site encourages a few people to visit. (Or move here!)

I think Inuvik is one of Canada’s “best kept secrets,” and this website is intended as a positive guide.

In addition to blogging, I also make a living from writing, reporting and photography.

My articles and photos have been published in the Ottawa Citizen, Nunatsiaq News, the magazine Beyond the Hill (Canadian Association of Former Parliamentarians) the Inuvialuit cultural magazine Tusaayaksat, the business magazine Far North Oil & Gas, and on www.CBC.ca. (I am also supposed to have a brief note on Inuvik’s “dome house” in the next Up Here magazine.)

I graduated from Carleton University’s school of journalism in April 2006, worked as an intern in Alexandria Ontario’s Glengarry News, then moved North and spent 16 months as the Beaufort Delta bureau reporter for the NWT weekly News/North, with occasional weeks as guest editor of the Inuvik Drum.

I am now associate producer and occasional host of the noontime show Northwind on CBC Radio One, replacing someone on paternity leave until December 08. (Click here for the show’s website, which I also maintain.)

Here are a few samples of my work and also a brief resume.www.morinclips.blogspot.com
